I used to try to review movies I had seen or at least make note that I saw them and review what I ate or drank before and after.

Eclipse + Rockafellas (Salem)
That practice has fallen by the wayside and some great flicks deserving of my attention have missed a post all their own. The Town, for one. It was even shot in my neighborhoods!
That is neighborhoods plural because Charlestown (yes, The Town) is where I spend my weekdays dodging masked men robbing banks working; and two, the beloved North End where the chase scenes are legit, the bank they rob is actually a local laundry mat and Ben Affleck was spotted during filming, as the film crews had set up shop on my street. Besides the beautiful and captivating shots of the cityscape overhead and seeing your very own Harvard Square and Fenway Park in full on action mode, it is a great movie. The plot is pretty straightforward but the movie involves intense scenes with talented actors. I'm obviously biased based on the fact that I love watching a movie that takes place in my own backyard, but I'd still recommend this film to all!
Since this movie debuted September 17th, and I saw it in the theater soon after, I haven't the faintest what I ate or drank pre or post.

Mattie Ross (Hailee Stienfeld) a fourteen year old as stubborn and strong willed as they come, will stop at nothing to avenge her fathers death. In search of the known murderer Tom Channey (Josh Brolin) she hires U.S Marshal Rooster Cogburn (Jeff Bridges) and Texas Ranger LaBoeuf (Matt Damon) offers his help as well. An unlikely trio, they embark on a wild west journey of retribution and discovering their "True Grit". The quick witted dialogue is exceptional and the scenes set in turn of the century mid-western America are always a point of fascination.

LOVED the Town not just for the hometown pride but because it was a phenomenal movie! I haven't seen True Grit yet (and I'm not sure that I will) but I've heard great things about the movie!
I haven't seen either but would like to see both eventually!
I really wanted to see The Town but haven't had a chance yet. The last movie I saw was The Social Network (months ago). I have some catching up to do!
LOVED The Town! I just saw True Grit last week and to be honest I don't really know how I felt about it. I didn't like it as much as I hoped, I thought it lacked the suspense and hint of bad ass-ness I was expecting given the trailers. The Fighter was phenomenal though, have you seen it yet?
i havent had a chance to see either yet but they are on my list. for some reason, i have not been to the movies in forever! that's pretty rare for me
I didn't love the Town. I thought the action was cool but the story was so unrealistic and the ending was annoying. But yes, cool where it was shot. But I still don't think Ben Affleck cant command a leading role like his partner Matt Damon. Hubby saw True Grit without me : (
If you want to see amazing acting- go see The Fighter- that movie rocked.
I want to see both these movies... but in all likelihood will catch them on DVD. I have a bit of phobia of movie theatres (a la Meghan's post about being too close to people in public). I'm weird.
Oh LOVE The Town. Is it weird I was rooting for Ben Affleck even though he was a creep?! I can only imagine how your senses lit up, its so fun to see roads, buildings and areas you recognize. PS I don't think the strike through text option is available on blogger :(
I'm obsessed with the Town! I just saw True Grit and I really didn't understand all the hype. The fighter on the other hand, UNREAL - i loved it!
I NEED to see the town. I was supposed to see it weeks ago but didn't happen. We're planning on renting it for a date movie asap, as in next week.
@meesh @Jacki Mo - I hadn't even seen previews or heard any hype regarding True Grit before I saw it. Sorry it didn't live up to your expectations!
@lizzy - but it was based on a true story! hahah no i totally understand what you mean. ;)
and since you all are reccomending it so strongly, I've GOT to see The Fighter!
I loved the town because I knew the places they were showing (I was also on salem St getting coffee at Polcaris the day they shot that scene of them in Nun masks in the truck. Awesome.) I havent seen true grit yet though...
I haven't seen either! We are so lazy and usually wait for movies to come out on Netflix!
Great reviews! I saw The Town (I was lucky enough to go to its opening IN Fenway-awesome) and loved EVERY minute of it. It's a fantastic movie -proud of good old Ben on that one!
Haven't seen either movie but really want to see The Town. I saw it being filmed in Copley and really want to see it. As always, great post, filled with terrific pictures!
I looove The Town. Didn't see True Grit...i am not a big Coen Bros. person.
I saw The Town the same night as I saw Social Network - double feature! I liked Social Network a lot more. I liked recognizing my North End neighborhood in it too, but I wouldn't care to see it again, that's how I judge movies.
I want to see both of these, but I'll probably wait until they come out on Netflix. I don't remember the last time I was in a movie theater...
I cant wait to see the town, i have been waiting for it to come out on netflix for awhile.
I haven't gone to a movie in ages!! Rafe and I keep talking about it and haven't made it happen yet!
