Abigails

A leisurely paced walk from the Royal Sonesta lead us to Abigails to kick off the bachelorette evening festivities. This was my first time at the recently opened neighborhood bistro. The ladies and I grabbed seats at the natural wood bar for some ice cold oysters and cocktails. I washed two beautifully shucked Island Creeks ($15 for 1/2 dozen) down with an expertly crafted "tall & short" cocktail called The Salt Marsh ($8); an entirely appropriate pairing if you ask me! With an illuminating pink hue that looks like it would be sticky sweet, it is actually just the opposite thanks to the splendid combo of gin, grapefruit juice and a double dose Angostura and Peychaud bitters. The thickly salted rim boosts the boldly sour meets a hint of bitter flavors and does justice to the name, proving salt can garnish more than just a margarita. The neutral toned and modern décor in the lofty space is comforting and casual, the vibe makes for easy conversation and the staff is warm and welcoming. I was impressed on this short visit and am definitely looking forward to returning for a proper meal and another Salt Marsh!

  1. I am surprised you did not get an Aperol cocktail to match your umbrella!
