Genève, Switzerland

Before Chamonix there was a night in Geneva, Switzerland. We wandered along the banks of Lac Lucerne and through Vieille Ville (old town) ducking into cozy bars for a mug of vin chaud or a glass of Kronenbourg. Restaurant Le Thermometre was buzzing on an otherwise quiet street, so dinner was decided on a whim based on the crowd. We were seated at a high table in the back corner by the custom zinc and red painted bar, where we had an amazing meal in good company. (We became friendly with the owner, that's him in the photos.) I turned 30. It was a really nice way to celebrate.

Keurig Retail Store

Keurig invited me out to Burlington to visit their flagship retail store. The pristine and well organized space is brightly lit and colorful; where K-Cup box after K-cup box line the walls. The brewing systems designed for sampling are displayed along the center aisle, and the opposite wall houses shelves of individual K-Cups designed for "pick-a-packs".
On this visit I learned all about their brewers and sampled some Green Mountain coffee. I enjoyed perusing the pick-a-pack wall and filling a box with 12 different K-cups, from robust Green Mountain dark roasts like Lake and Lodge and Double Black Diamond, to their lighter blends that come in intriguing flavors such as Golden French Toast and Caramel Vanilla Cream. I added a Cinnabon brand cinnamon bun coffee, a Celestial Seasonings green tea, Tazo English breakfast tea and a Swiss Miss hot chocolate cup as well.

The pick-a-pack wall has an outstanding variety to choose from and proves a fantastic option for sampling new flavors without committing to an entire box!
The new K10 Mini Plus ($100) 1-cup brewing systems are stylish and eye-catching with their bright colors and university logos - designed with a small kitchen or a college dorm room in mind; these would make great gifts!
The next step up is the K45 ($12o) Elite Brewing System, which has just been made available in select colors. The higher end K65 Special Edition ($150) and K75 Platinum ($180) brewing systems are not available in colors, but remain an ideal choice with their sleek chrome accents, large reservoirs, and an LCD display that lets you program water temperature, set the digital clock and program an auto on/off.
Bonus: Your first check in on Foursquare gets you a "Newbie Special" - $10 of a purchase of $30 or more!
