The kind of cool thing? Just had to reminisce for a moment! Back to the main event. Renowned for its Pueblo style architecture and creative arts scene, Santa Fe is a fascinating city and made for a chill and leisurely trip.
We actually happened to be in town on the busiest weekend of the year; The Santa Fe Indian Market. It was a cool vibe to be a part of with everyone dressed to impress and art vendors lining the streets. The amount of Turquoise, precious stone and silver jewelry was unparalleled.
What the city and many of the restaurants we dined at consider busy felt typical to us - like a standard level of crowded for any city. I get the sense Santa Fe is a small, quiet community otherwise. Nowhere was this more evident than when we flew into the teeny tiny municipal airport (we're talking the smallest airport Tricia and I have ever been to!) No judgement - we just had no idea! And then we understood why our flights were $750. Laura and Eden live in Denver so they had a six hour drive directly south.
We were happy we made dinner reservations all three nights when we saw people getting turned away! Also, the crowd here turns in early - the bars were all super low key, easy to get a drink and find seats.
Stay: La Fonda on the Plaza - central location, traditionally decorated rooms + a pretty roof deck bar.
I would recommend checking out everywhere we visited; nothing on the list worth exploring takes more than a few hours so you can fit a lot into one day.
