Moon Island

This weekend, we camped. Trading the city bustle for a rugged mountain backdrop, pristine lake waters, tall birch trees, dreamy sunsets and a night sky dotted with stars proved to be the ultimate wilderness escape.
From Piper Cove in the quiet town of Holderness, New Hampshire, we loaded up our gear into canoes and paddled 2 miles across Squam Lake to the remote and peaceful spot. The small island is owned and preserved by the Squam Lake Association and home to three campsites, hiking trails and a few small beaches. (In addition to wildlife that includes loons, frogs, snakes(!), lots and lots of rambunctious squirrels and owls.)
It was relaxing as much as it was an adventure. I love a good mix of both.

  2. You make camping look easy. I still have yet to do it...it is on my practically abandoned 30 while 30 list.
