Vík

A handful of bright houses set against lime green mountains; with a crushed oreo cookie black sand beach and a charming red roofed chapel perched on a hill, Vík's beauty made a lasting impression.

I mentioned Vik in the SOUTH ICELAND / day 1 post - as Vik is the Southernmost village in Iceland and we had dinner here on our first night. These photos, though, are from our second day, around 9 or 10 am. The sunlight hitting the mountains in one direction was in stark contrast to the gray clouds covering the beach. The way the weather and the light play off the landscape was a constant source of wonder as we made our way around the island.

  1. I love the way the architecture is so simple and lets the natural beauty take center stage. Gorgeous photos!
