Must Ride: Toy Story Midway Mania! This was our last official ride at Disney!Hollywood Studios offers some other worthwhile attractions such as Voyage of The Little Mermaid (wish we had time!), Star Tours (was closed for construction), Studio Backlot Tour (there was talk of, but we didn't make it), Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular! (been there done that, more than once.) Plus, we had a 6pm flight to catch! Our time in Disney was a blast!And this belated recap finalllly and officially concludes our vacation in Florida.

Lazy Flamingo

Last Sunday afternoon we ventured out to watch the Patriots game at the Lazy Flamingo. Casual seafood dining at this nautical themed restaurant and bar gives you a true taste of local island eats and atmosphere. The Lazy Flamingo is just down the street from our condo located at 1036 Periwinkle Way.Surrounded by large green shrubs and trees, the establishment is set back from the street but you can't miss the bright pastel pink exterior with ocean blue trim. Walk ways lined with plastic flamingos and nautical ropes guide you inside to a space reminiscent of the lower decks of a ship. I love the vibe inside. Large porthole windows are surrounded by dark wooden walls and ceilings flanked with metal clapboards, heavy nautical rope, tropical themed beer advertisements and marine life accents. Tricia, Dave and myself shared a couple pitchers of beer. We started off with locally brewed Key West Ale and later moved onto our beloved Yuengling. Pitchers ran about $9 on average, which is not a bad deal.While we watched Football and cheered on our boys I snacked on Conch Fritters ($6.99) (pronounced KONK!) just like hush puppies but they're full of queen conch, diced vegetables and served with a side of hot sauce. A generous portion is served warm with a golden brown crispy fried shell, inside a bite of soft chewy bread laced with tangy conch, carrots and celery. The table shared 3 baskets of wings, all $8.99 a pop. We ordered your standard Buffalo Wings, sweet and tart Teriyaki Wings, and my favorite the Teri-Hots. All wings were served with celery and blue cheese. That is a master carving job if I ever saw one! The service here was prompt, waitresses were friendly and the Halloween décor was plentiful.
I definitely recommend hitting up the Lazy Flamingo if you're spending time on Sanibel. The atmosphere, football games, pitchers of beer and conch fritters are reason enough for me!

Life in Sanibel

As I mentioned in my Halloween Post our friends picked Adam and I up last Saturday afternoon in Lantana and we road-tripped across the Sunshine State to Sanibel Island via I-75, also known as Alligator Alley or The Everglades Parkway. It is a flat stretch of highway which traverses the Everglades, a subtropical wetland area in Southern Florida.
In the Toyota Sienna - our rental van for the week, Tricia took the wheel while I navigated riding shot-gun and the boys piled into the back.
We planned to eat most of our dinners out, but we did purchase a bunch of breakfast and lunch foods, snacks, and booze at Super Walmart in Fort Myers before heading over to Sanibel.
After paying the $6 toll we ventured over the Causeway bridge into paradise.
Just to give you an idea of where we're at in the scheme of things, I took a picture of this map at the public beach. Above is Southern Florida and below is a zoom in of the South Western coast of the state. Our condo is located at the southernmost tip of the island as indicated by the large red arrow. Earlier I posted some shots of the beach outside our condo which sits on San Carlos Bay.
However, we spent most of our time across the street at Lighthouse Beach which sits on The Gulf of Mexico. The water is crystal clear and the beach is much larger but still relaxed and private. The Gulf side is where it's at.Some days were windy and we got a few waves. Other days the water was perfectly still and calm. My beach spread:

Tricia's Aunt, Uncle and Cousins were also part of our crew. They have a timeshare at the condo complex and have been coming to Sanibel for years. Most likely a Vodka Pineapple or a Yuengling we're sippin' on. Life.is.good.
We didn't run into any issues drinking on the beach. Technically it's not allowed so we played it safe and rocked solo cups. A blow up tube is essential. We'd spend hours at a time just floating around in the Gulf. I have never swam in water so warm. I'm talking bathwater temperature.....Just your run of the mill float will suffice - we purchased these for about $5 at a local surf shop. We also spent a lot of time at the condo pool & hot tub.There is nothing like a dip after a day on the beach or soaking in a hot tub after hours. I'm pretty sure Tricia and I were in there at least twice a day, everyday. Visit her blog for some great in and under water antics. (She's got a waterproof camera!)Shuffleboard was a fun post beach activity, too!I really liked this game once I got the hang of it!!Kona Longboard is another popular bottled beer down south. I've had it up north on draft but don't usually see it for sale in bottled 6 packs. Score. Downtime and late nights in the living room.

I have so much more to share about our time here.
