The High Line

If the 80 photos I took were any indication - a stroll along The High Line - New York City's historic freight rail line turned public park was a really nice way to spend the gray and brisk but not-too-cold morning of December 1st.

Perched above the streets and among the buildings of Manhattan's West Side, we walked the urban trail in its entirety beginning at 30th Street and 10th Avenue, ending on Gansevoort Street just below 13th and The Meatpacking District.

Modern paths filled with brush gardens and holly trees, low lying shrubs and ferns, and a few lone flowers in bloom create a vision among old railroad tracks as they weave between the natural landscape of the city. Old brick warehouses and factories reveal dynamic neighborhood spaces and original art installations from graffiti splashed billboards to tiny garden sculptures.

In short: nature + art + city = beauty.

I did not purposefully match my tights with the taxi cabs.

And, I realize this blog is all over the place as of late, which will likely continue - from Costa Rica to NYC to Madison and back again as the inspiration strikes. And on that note, since I am en route back to Madison right now, I wouldn't mind starting the rotation all over again and fleeing back to Costa Rica next week, and New York the weekend after that....
