I had a goal this summer to visit more food trucks.
I only made it to one. Back in early June (well before the heated Phantom Gourmet debacle) I ventured to Copley Square on one scorching hot Friday afternoon that I was not traveling, and got lunch from Staff Meal.
The short line moved quickly and the food came out in no time. The chips ($3) are tortilla style, served hot and extra salty. Their garlicky guacamole is just how I like it, mostly creamy laced with some avocado chunks. The Judge Smails Half & Half ($3) was a refreshing blast of lemonade and iced tea.
I ordered two tacos which were piled high and wide with ingredients, quite a substantial lunch on their own. My friends Meghan and Lin each got the Beef Barbacoa ($4) with plantain chips, baja sauce and pickled slaw while I enjoyed the Chicken Paprikash ($4) and the Truck Made Chorizo ($4). The former boasted soft shredded chicken with French's Onions and bacon jam. BACON JAM. It added this incredible smokey sweet depth to the taco. The chorizo was flavorful and crispy, though could have used more of that lime crema to balance it out. Lettuce and radishes were dusted over both the tacos adding a welcome crunch.
Looks so good! Maybe try the taco truck next to compare? I've tried that one but not Staff Meal... now I will definitely check it out :)
ReplyDeleteI still haven't been to Staff Meal! I like Mei Mei Kitchen a lot, it's one of my favorite food trucks.
ReplyDeletei tried that paprikash taco as well, very good! i've got a clover by me at work, and their chickpea fritters are pretty amazing :)
ReplyDeleteI love Clover...their chickpea fritters are the best I've ever had!
ReplyDeleteI'm so bummed I didn't make it to any food trucks this summer! I would love to try that bacon jam!
ReplyDeleteI definitely need to do more food truck visiting. I've only been to Roxy's Grilled Cheese.
ReplyDeleteThat guac looks seriously good!
I totally meant to visit more food trucks this summer - didn't go to a single one, sadly. I could go for a half-and-half and a big bag of war, salty chips right now!
ReplyDeleteOh you definitely just sold me on this food truck! looks great!
ReplyDeleteI've been dying to try this one! The guy that runs it is hilarious. I heard mei mei was really really good!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Michelle...Clover's Chickpea Fritter sandwich is like nothing I've ever had. So much flavor! Get that with a lavender lemonade and you will not be disappointed!
ReplyDeleteThat's the only truck I made it to, too. If you haven't tried Clover, you need to. And I really want to check out The Taco Truck still.
ReplyDeleteThose tacos look excellent
ReplyDeleteMouth watering! We had a food truck rodeo here a couple of weeks ago and was such a great time.
ReplyDeleteThis was such a fun lunch! I still can't wait to try Mei Mei's dumplings.
